The LEAN project

“LEAN” stands for Learning on Entrepreneurship & Agriculture for New farmers. Its aim is to provide tailored training and capacity building to new entrant farmers to help them implement and develop their farm according to organic and sustainable agriculture principles. The open educational resources (OER) developed within the LEAN project target especially a new generation of farmers that is rising in Europe: young people with no agricultural certification and who are not from farming background.

To find more about the LEAN project and its outputs take a look at our website that is now online (http://leanproject.eu) and at our social media accounts recently created (https://twitter.com/LEANproject_eu and https://www.facebook.com/Leanproject.eu/)! First outcomes

We asked to newly established European farmers what were the main issues they faced and their needs when they started. We also asked them what they consider the most relevant skills and knowledge for new entrant farmers. The findings show that there is a need for both technical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills among new farmers. The results of the needs assessment were used to build the structure of the training modules and the case studies.
